Description/Job Summary
Perdue in Milford Delaware is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic A. The purpose of the Maintenance Mechanic A is to know the operation of processing machines, setup machines for operation, and to maintain all equipment in assigned areas to keep the plant operational.
Responsibilities/Duties
Perform assigned maintenance tasks which include but are not limited to fabrication and assembly; rebuilding gear boxes, pumps and other heavy industrial equipment.
Be able to move throughout the facility to perform repairs and preventative maintenance. The facility has equipment with a vertical height of 150 as well as confined spaces.
Use a vehicle to transfer tools and materials, to perform and meet the mechanical knowledge, skill and abilities of a maintenance mechanic A.
Respond to emergency breakdowns during both on and off duty hours to insure operations continue on a 24 hour, 7 days/week basis.
Generate and submit paperwork relative to the work locations such as work orders, machine checklists, time cards, job cards, parts withdrawals and safety inspections.
Perform all equipment repairs and daily work within OSHA & Perdue Safety handbook guidelines, provide leadership, supervision, and direction for maintenance classes B, C, and helper and communicates with production and management.
Machine and scale checks are to be performed at the beginning of every shift and during the shift to ensure that all equ9ipment is running properly and ready for production.
Required Education
High School Diploma or GED.
Vocational/Technical school completion OR equivalent training OR four or more years practical experience is required.
Required Qualifications
Strong work history, worked for one employer for at least 1 year in the past three years.
Willing and able to stand for several hours.
Willing and able to work in wet and extreme cold/hot conditions.
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Proficient with reading, math and have strong analytical skills.
Knowledge of hydraulic systems operation, conveyor systems, and a mechanical aptitude for industrial machinery.
3 years prior or related experience required.
Previous manufacturing, production, especially food production experience is a plus.
